Bad Breath - Your Mouthwash Might be the Culprit
Ever wondered even when you are diligent in maintaining oral hygiene why you are suffering from bad breath. This might be so because the very products
that you are using might be initiating or worsening the problem that you are trying to fight.
Shocked? You definitely should be. But many of us do not realize that choosing oral hygiene products with ignorance might defeat the very purpose for
which we are buying them.
So, does this mean that we should give up our toothpaste,
oral rinse, floss and electric toothbrush away and stop
oral hygiene all together? No, definitely not. What we are trying to say is stop looking only at factors like pricing and choose the products with
better care to help prevent problems like bad breath.
This case scenario is at its worst when it comes to using a mouthwash. Many people just pick up a mouthwash looking
only at its taste without having one look at its ingredients. Also, ignorance about what needs to picked up and what needs to be avoided defeats the
purpose of using an oral rinse although the intention was good.
Artificial flavors that taste good and seem to be the prime requisite in your oral rinse might be one of the biggest culprits in causing dryness of the
mouth that is causing increase in bacterial growth and thus causing bad breath. So, even though your oral rinse tastes good, it might not be the best
choice.
Alcohol in the mouthwash is another such initiator of bad breath as this too causes dryness of the mouth. It also has the potential to cause gum
problems such as gum irritation and inflammation.
So, while choosing your oral rinse it is essential to avoid one that contains such ingredients as mentioned above as you might end up with bad breath
despite using it with the intention of avoiding this problem.
